Roads Like Snakes
2014/2015
ABOUT
Alive & Well Productions’ debut dance theater work, Roads Like Snakes premiered as a workshop performance in 2014 in Sebastopol, CA, as part of an informal residency at the regional playhouse MainStage West. In four distinct scenes, this hybrid project wove together live singing, spoken word poetry, hip-hop and contemporary dance in an hour-long choreo-poem. Roads Like Snakes was named for the winding, streets of San Francisco (and in particular the iconic image of Lombard Street). The work responded to the personal and collective changes in San Francisco, as the second major tech boom reverberated through the city. Alive & Well Productions reprised an extended version the piece in 2015 at the Joe Goode Annex in San Francisco.
